Blizzident is a new tailored toothbrush which cleans the teeth automatically. At first glance it looks a bit like hairy pair of dentures. The brush maker’s says that it cleans teeth completely within six seconds. The makers use best 3d printer creates the brush itself. They use dental can to create a CAD model of the brush ,which is converted into a 3d object using STL ,a method in which liquid plastic is curved into a shape with an ultraviolet laser.The bristles are then attached to the object.

All Blizzident-bristles are tailored to your own teeth. They are placed on the surface of your teeth in a 45 degree angle. They are also aligned exactly along your gumline in a 45 degree angle.

To tailor the brush to a person’s mouth,dentists take a digital scan of the teeth.The makers of use that scan to determine the optical placement of 600 bristles by simulating biting and chewing movements.The bristles resemble normal toothbrush bristles but are much finer and tapered to reach the gumline better.

It seems that, these days, you can print anything using 3D printers even for visually impaired people and blind people. Yahoo Japan has recently created a 3D printing machine which is specially made to help out the visually impaired.This 3D printer which will allow the user to actually touch the object that they searched for. This machine is being offered for those children who are visually impaired so they can actually touch and feel what they’re looking for on the internet.

The 3D printer can take commands from a search engine activated by a voice. The device will be used at a Special Needs Education School for blind and visually impaired students at the University of Tsukuba.It will be there for the children to use until October, after which it will be sent to other institutions around Japan.

The 3D printer will be creating the objects in five to 60 minutes depending on the complexity of objects. If the user will say words such as “Cat” or “Car” the search engine will start looking for the words or data on the internet. If the information is found, then the cheap 3D printer will create a 3D object that has the size of the palm.

This project has been named ”Hands on search” where a special website will be provided with lists of objects about which children are particularly curious and a study is going to be conducted on how visually impaired children will make internet searches. Currently they have gathered information about 3D data for 110 objects including animals and vehicles uploaded in their website. Yahoo Japan is planning to increase the number of objects by asking for contributions from businesses and private citizens.

They have brought us 3D printed fetuses and the first 3D printed photo booth, but its 3D printing power is somehow lagging behind other countries.

The united States and Europe are currently dominating the 3D printing industry. The US being the furthest ahead in terms of investing in the industry. Regardless of the initial investment we haven’t seen anyone provide a solution for bringing down the price on 3D printing with metal.

A joint venture between the Japanese government and the country’s private sector looks to complete soon and it’s clear that the government is beginning to focus energy and money on the technology.
Starting in 2014 the Japanese Economy, Trade and Industry Ministry plans to launch a new research and development initiative that will bring together heavy industry and universities to develop printers capable of producing end-use products in metal. If Japan is able to produce its own metal printers instead of relying on those manufactured in other countries, then Japan could leap ahead of the rest of the world.

According to news sources in Japan “the government said it would promote the research and development of Educational 3D printer. By collaborating with companies and universities, the government hopes to put the next generation of printers to practical use within several years.”

Currently 3D printing in metal is isolated to a small range of processes, most notably selective laser-melting, which is extremely expensive and still has issues with reliability and consistency of results. While other countries like the US have already committed to the development of the advanced manufacturing technologies, it’s time for Japan to make a major impact on 3D printing technologies.

A new era of orthopedic surgery is taking shape at Peking University. Their doctors are able to create titanium implants that fit perfectly in a patient’s body.

Dr. Liu Zhongjun in Peking University has been using 3D printers to develop new spinal implants. These implants have been custom designed to fit each patient’s body. According to their report, not a single patient has complained about any undesirable side effects or adverse reactions. Clinical trials were started a year ago and they have used dozens of such implants for more than fifty patients. 3D printing has opened up a new world of technology where we have the ability to customize a wide variety of applications in the medical field.

Dr.Liu was impressed with 3D printer features. In the past he had used clinical titanium mesh but with the growth of bone, titanium mesh could easily stick into the bone and cause collapse. That’s not the case with 3D printed implants. The 3D printed implants fit the bone perfectly, and are more reliable than traditional titanium mesh.

In the coming years, 3D printing will take us to a very advanced and different level of medial innovation that has previously been thought impossible.
